Abbeyfield is a National charity providing housing with care and support for older people. There are more than 700 houses in the UK run by local Abbeyfield societies or Abbeyfield UK.

Supported Sheltered Housing
Abbeyfield has traditionally, provided supported sheltered housing. These are either purpose built or adapted from existing buildings with added facilities to make them suitable for older people. The Abbeyfield way of life provides balance of privacy, support and security that can be ideal for older people who no longer feel happy living alone but do not wish to share with relatives.

The support is provided by paid members of staff and volunteers. Volunteers give time on behalf of residents, to ensuring that each feels at home and supported and that the house is well managed.

At house level, paid staff provides meals and support to residents and organise the day to day running of the house. The work of local societies is supported regionally in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales

Abbeyfield Care Homes
80 care homes around the UK provide 24 hour personal care for residents who are too frail to live in supported sheltered houses.

Abbeyfield Extra Care Homes
Extra care homes give residents an opportunity to live in their own flats, living as independently as possible with the knowledge that 24 hour emergency support is available on site.

Financing Abbeyfield
Abbeyfield is affordable to all, regardless of income. Each house, once set up, is financially self-supporting. The running costs are met by residents' weekly charges. Charges vary from house to house and can be met either through private resources, Housing Benefit and/or Income Support.
